Party Dresses We Wish We Wore to Prom

In high school, I was awkward. Not shy-around-boys-awkward, but Never Been Kissed-style didn’t-even-go-to prom awkward! While everyone’s got their own prom night stories, every girl knows that all of them pale in comparison to the dress. That’s right, prom night is all about the dress. Whether your dress was a stylish success or a complete disaster, or if you missed your prom due to, er, backseat distractions, nothing beats second chances! In honor of the “awkward girl” or those who missed your prom, I’ve gathered a list of prom-esque party dresses you’ll love. After all, it’s never too late to recreate that special night!

SHORT DRESSES

I wish I looked this chic at prom! Show-off your bod in this curve-hugging, cobalt So Low Mesh Dress ($58 on nastygal.com), whose sheer mesh gown draws attention to your exposed back but leaves just enough to the imagination. Pair it with platforms, sparkly cuff bracelets or a glam statement necklace, and you’re ready for one fashionable entrance!

Didn’t go to my prom :( But now, I am getting complete satisfaction getting my daughters ready for their prom next month. Great ideas! For the record, had I gone, I would have rock ANY of the short dresses!

I am really not a fan of short dresses for prom– I remember it was kind of a trendy idea when I was in high school, but… it’s really difficult to find a short dress that feels classy enough for prom– they certainly exist, but they weren’t the dresses being sold to girls going to prom. Then again, there are some long dresses that aren’t really prom-classy, too, and every so often the trends are really horrible. That long blue one is really nice, though. (I agree with Jenn S. about the beachy one, too– unless your prom is beach themed)
(Maybe for Enchantment Under the Sea?)

Hmm….I’m not crazy about any of those dresses for the prom – except for I believe it’s #6 & #8 (if I had to choose prom dresses). Very cute though. I wouldn’t object to wearing any of them, but just not to the prom. :-)

And the Handkerchief Hem Maxi Dress is more of a beach/vacation dress than a prom dress… Perhaps I’m showing my age though? :-/

The Cut Out Dress in Color Block looks more like a cocktail party dress to me than a prom dress…
