Easy ‘Dos to Pretty Up Dirty Hair

1 2 3 4 5 6

Crown Braids:

This Heidi-cum-haute style has been seen on the likes of Jessica Alba, Scarlett Johansson and all over the catwalk this season, and is great for day-old dirty hair as unwashed strands will better hold the braided ‘do. You can go for a more intricate look with a crown French braid, but the easiest way to recreate this pretty look is:

1. Divide hair into two sections. Braid one of the sections through to ends.
2. Bring the first braid up over your head, covering your ear. Secure with bobby pins.
3. Braid the second section of hair through ends and bring that over your crown, covering the end of the other braid. Tuck the end of the second braid under the first so that both braid ends are hidden. Fasten with bobby pins.
4. Tuck or pin flyaways to ensure the braids stand out, and you’re all set!

Who in the heck can go a couple of days without shampooing hair??? I’m 51 and still can’t go one day without washing my hair-it’s as if my hair is still in puberty!

It’s actually better for your hair if you wash your hair every other day rather than every single day… so if you miss one shower then it’s easy to see how a girl can accidentally fall into the 3-4 day category. :)

I can. The trick is to get your hair used to going a few days without being washed. It always sucks the first time or two, because you do have to keep greasy hair longer in order to get it that way. And of course how often your hair can go without needing to be washed also depends on your hair type.

I love the Bardot look, but I don’t know if I could put in all the work… I’m more a ‘throw on a hat if you need to leave the house with really dirty hair’ girl… But who knows, maybe when my hair grows out longer I’ll try something outside of my old comfort zone.
