Master the Art of Ombré Nails

1 2 3 4

Considering my blog has the word “mascara” in it, you’d think that I’m totally obsessed with mascara, right? And I am. But do you know what I love even more than mascara? Nail polish, girl! I’m always trying to recreate the trends that I spot from runways, and one of the most recent polish trends I’ve been seeing on the catwalk is ombré. Ombré has already been a big hair trend this season and now the style’s moving to your nails to dapper up your digits. It’s a great way to give some omph to your nails and takes very little effort.

The first type of ombré that I’ve been seeing is this gradient look, which uses two different colors of polish to create a light-to-dark effect on each individual nail. Here’s how-to:

1. Simply start with one polish color and apply two coats of base color.
2. Dip a foundation sponge into your second polish color and begin dabbing the tips of your nails in short quick strokes, focusing the color on the ends of your nail.
3. Seal the style with clear top-coat and use nail polish remover to clean up any excess polish around the nail, and voilà—you’ve got yourself ombré nails!
