Chick Lit Flicks: Fave Big-Screen Adaptations
The Help
Kathryn Stockett’s The Help was one of the biggest sleeper hits of ’09—I saw that yellow and purple cover everywhere, from the nail salon to the subway. With a fan base that devoted, the film adaptation certainly had its work cut out for it, but thankfully it totally took on the challenge and succeeded. The 2011 ensemble drama wrangled up a super talented group of actresses to carry out Stockett’s story, including Viola Davis, Emma Stone, Bryce Dallas Howard, Jessica Chastain and Octavia Spencer, who won a much-deserved Academy Award for her role as sassy Minny Jackson. These lovely ladies definitely did the book proud!

Post a CommentNice. The book is usually better.
I usually prefer action movies to chick flicks– and a good horror novel or mystery to chick lit– but I have to admit, a couple of these are on my ‘must watch’ list even so… (I don’t think I could sit through The Notebook, though)
Gota go with the classic.. The notebook! Cry every time!!
love the notebook
I LOVE THE BRIDGET JONE’S DIARY!!
books are usually better
I have read four of these books but that was many years ago. These days time to just lounge and read a good book seems like a vague memory. I also agree with Oohlalovie the Notebook was better in the movie form then the book. But Gone with the Wind and Pride and Prejudice were better in written form for me.
I have seen all the movies but I have only read about 2 books. I like that the movie adaptation stays somewhat with the story line
love the notebook but i only saw the movie
Gotta read and see some of these books and movies! I read most of them though!
The movie The Notebook was better than the book. The book was written like it was for a 5th grader. Sparks is a great romance writer, but the movies always turn out better than his books.
