Great Expectations: Dating Fantasy Vs. Reality
Wanting perfect and receiving less-than-perfect? Been there, done that. We have Disney, rom-coms and Taylor Swift to blame for setting such an unrealistically high standard for love—alright, sometimes we have ourselves to blame. But is it really a crime to want someone to fall madly in love with you and pamper you like a princess? Ok fine, it’s a tad unrealistic to want all of those things in one guy. We’re all looking for Mr. Right, but it’s searching for Prince Charming that will just lead to disappointment—after all, even Prince Harry has his shortcomings! Here’s a list of scenarios that’ll help you stay on planet earth and differentiate between dating fantasy and reality.

Scenario #1: He’s the Fairytale Boyfriend

Sure, watching the entire Twilight series can make any girl want her own Edward. Just think—the romance! The passion! The thrill! It’s an admittedly addictive fantasy. But it’s just that—a fantasy. The honeymoon stage of the relationship never lasts forever (sigh!), but believe it or not , the “fade” is good. Sure, you might miss the “cloud nine” euphoria, but relationships are always evolving and you should evolve too, or stay behind. Once the smoke and mirrors have vanished, you’re left with a real relationship, so go on and explore it!
