Old-School Board Games with Fun, Grown-Up Twists

1 2 3 4 5

Remember those classic board games we used to play when we were kids? And how they actually used to be enough to fill up a Friday night? Back in the day there was no need to go out and spend money we might not have on countless drinks only to wake up broke and hungover the next morning.

Oh, how the times have changed. But, you can be an adult and enjoy board games (seriously, keep reading…). I’m gonna give you five not-so-bored games that combine two of your favorite things: your childhood and drinks! Adjust to your liking, but here are some tipsy takes on the classics….

-Maureen Meekins

Scrabble by Hasbro ($16.95 on barnesandnoble.com): Ah, this one is often revered as a timeless classic. Though for those of us who didn’t major in English, getting crafting with words might get boring. So, whip out this educational game, but have your beer and liquor handy. First things first: raunchy words only (we’re adults here!). Follow the original directions and point system, then simply add your Friday night snacks (vodka, beers, shots, etc.) to the mix:

-If you get a double letter score – you choose an opponent to drink one shot of beer.

-If you get a double word score – all other players must drink one shot of beer.

-If you get a triple letter score – nominate one opponent to drink one shot of liquor.

-If you get a triple word score – all other players must drink one shot of liquor.

Hopefully you’ll be able to count up your score at the end!
