“Invest Your Time Wisely”
Happy Monday! We’re introducing our bi-weekly series of inspiring posters from best-selling author Karen Salmansohn to get you through your week.
Karen brings fun nuggets of self-help advice on her blog daily (or more than daily!) on notsalmon.com.
EDITOR’S TAKE: Dealing with money, or lack thereof, is confusing, annoying and discouraging. Bottle up all of those emotions and you’re going to explode!
Soon you’ll start thinking only in terms of dollars and cents. Should I cancel dinner plans so I can stay late and get a head start on tomorrow’s work? Should I spend Sunday catching up on emails instead of meeting friends for a boozy brunch? What else can I do to get ahead? I need that raise!
Stop right there! Sure, you might spend over 40 hours a week at the office, but why spend your “me” time with your mind at the office?! Put away those thoughts of rude coworkers and impossible projects. They weren’t invited to your after-work cocktails.
Don’t focus on what amount of money is in your bank account, what clothes are in your closet and what designer bag you want to carry. Instead give some of your thoughts to who you eat dinner with, who gives you a call at least once a week to check in and who brings you your favorite bottle of wine after your boss berates you. You won’t remember what your bank account balance was on a certain day, but you will remember when you had a ’90s movie marathon with your BFF or took an impromptu road trip with your BF.
Karen Salmansohn is a best-selling author with over 1 million books sold. Karen is known for creating self-help for people who wouldn’t be caught dead reading self-help. Some titles: HOW TO BE HAPPY DAMMIT, ENOUGH DAMMIT, THE BOUNCE BACK BOOK, etc. Her fans: Tony Robbins, Jon Stewart, Marisa Tomei, Goldie Hawn, Peter Guber, Tim Ferriss, Gretchen Rubin, etc. Karen not only writes her best-sellers, she also creative directs them—along with her posters—which she calls Inspirational Flashcards, because they quickly remind people how to live their highest potential life.
Karen is a columnist for Oprah.com, psychologytoday.com, huffingtonpost.com, and she’s also an international motivational speaker. Her mission: wake up sleepy minds, hearts and spirits so people can live their happiest lives!

Best part? Eventually, Karen will be selling some of the sayings as posters, tees or coffee mugs…so you could buy your favorite quote!
GIRL TALK TIME: What do you think of this quote? How do you get through Mondays? How do you ensure that you invest your time wisely?

I’d be interested to know more about having the “me and the family” time without the “mind at work time”. I need to know how to turn it off!
