Foodies in Love with Non-Foodies: Can It Work?
What if your Valentine’s Day date suggests Applebee’s, but you’re dying to try the intimate Thai restaurant that just opened downtown?
Or you’re a vegetarian, and he surprises you with his pick—a steakhouse!
Opposite personalities attract, but if your palates are completely different, can you really dig a dude you can’t eat with?
IReallyLikeFood.com says you can. Don’t let what’s on the menu ruin your V-Day plans with these tips!
Relationships, in general, are a lot of work and have their own share of problems and obstacles to overcome. So what happens when a foodie falls in love with a non-foodie? When someone who loves food and loves trying new foods marries someone who is content with bland food and has no interest in trying different cuisines? Is that relationship set for failure or is that a recipe for success?
As a foodie, I always wondered what would happen if I fell for someone who lacked my enthusiasm for food. I thought of how awkward it would be when a guy would order a salad and I’d want a fancy entree, or how annoying it would be if he wanted the same foods every day and I wanted variety. Or worse: If he hated the cuisines that I loved.

Post a CommentLooks good and with some modifications this can be very healthy and a whole lot of money left in our pockets…. (Instead of going out to dinner)
This looks good. Working on a new year and new me so food choices has been difference. Eating more fish and chicken. Plenty of Vegetables and fruits.
He has embraced a new lifestyle change and it is working.
We are different about food but used to be the same – now I’m dieting and making lifestyle changes, so it’s a challenge.
It’s hard to be someone hows “food habits” are similar to yours. Then again , it could be a good thing becthen you can try things you’ve never thought of trying. If you don’t like it, well then at least you can say you’ve tried it AND you don’t like it.
Honestly, I hate the word “foodie.” Who doesn’t love food? Whether you’re on a diet or not, you can always try (at least a bite) something new. People who don’t enjoy tasting new flavors, who just stick to bland American food are not “non-foodies” they’re just…boring. Could not date someone like that! If they’re not adventurous when it comes to meals, I can only imagine that extends to other areas of life.
I think it’s hard, I dated a guy that only liked American food, wouldn’t eat different cuisine, he wasn’t fun.
interesting.
I’m a veggie and definitely appreciates when others are considerate of what I eat and do not eat. But my whole family and all of my friends are carnivores, and I don’t judge them just because they do eat meat.
My problem is I’m dating someone too concerned about what they put in, how they take off (exercise), and worse, pays too much mind to others who enjoy food as much as I do and their physical appearance. I wish he’d shake off that superficial hollow shallow regards to food and other peoples business.
WORD!!
Yesssss, me and my s.o have different tases. He eats the nastiest tasting foods, like cow skin. I will never eat that. That veg pizza looks yummy.
