The weather’s crappy out, you’re broke and you’re starving. If that’s not a typical winter night, lucky you! For the rest of us, takeout sounds ah-maze-ing. When the craving strikes for some Chinese food and you’re not in range of an open takeout spot, whip something up with these easy go-to recipes. Most consist of typical veggies (onions, carrots, snow peas and peppers), signature Asian spices, soy sauce and one main ingredient. So, in a mod nod to the coming Chinese New Year this Monday, check out our top at-home takes on takeout dishes!

No matter how hard I try, I can never seem to make a salad as yummy as a restaurant can. But this veggie mix with Asian dressing gives my local Chinese restaurant some competition. AverageBetty.com’s easy recipe for Chinese Chicken Salad suggests serving carrots, bell peppers, green onions, edamame, chow mein noodles and grilled chicken over a lettuce mix. The dressing is the best part with honey, basil, soy sauce and more.

I’ve tried the Rachael Ray one. Like most of her recipes YUM-O! But go heavy on the seasonings. :)

In the spirit of this post, I hope you don’t mind if I share my own healthier version of Red Lobster’s famous cheddar biscuits.

Ever since the news about Paula Deen having diabetes came out, I’ve been trying to tweak my recipes to be a little less fatty (though this one still has its fair share of butter).
