Static cling, dull finish, split ends and breakage are all signs that your hair is suffering the effects of Old Man Winter. While moisture is important all year round, it’s especially key during the winter months. Don’t just take our word for it, though. We’ve consulted three celebrity stylists to gets tips and product recommendations in order to keep your locks as luscious as ever this season!
1. Have water on hand. Keep a mini spray bottle full of water in your purse. A light mist of water can help with static cling or even the dreaded hat hair. Worried about mussing your straightened strands? Lightly mist your hair, holding the bottle about 12 inches away from your head, and then smooth your palms over your hair.
2. Get a great daily conditioner. A daily conditioner will impart extra moisture to thirsty tresses during the driest months. Try Pureology’s Hydrate Conditioner ($23.69 on Sleekhair.com).
3. Snag a multi-purpose styler. Choose a styling product that can be used on wet or dry hair, like Redken’s Argan-6 Oil ($22.99 on Sleekhair.com). This incredibly light oil melts into the hair while adding shine and protection from heat styling. You can add a couple drops after your style is complete for extra shine, too!
4. Stay away from too many heat tools. If you’re going to blow dry, skip the iron and vice versa. If you opt for the flat or curling iron, go to bed with a wet head, air dry as much as possible, and style in the morning.
