Tools for a Grown-Up Girls’ Night In

1 2 3 4 5 6

Frigid temperatures that make you want to stay inside. A way-low bank account after holiday and NYE spending. Feeling so tired that you want to sleep for 15 hours straight. Sound like you? Invite your girls over for a low-budget girls night in, but put a grown-up spin on old-school stuff like MASH, pillow fights and even a.m. pancakes. After the jump, my tools of the trade for an adult GNI (Girls Night In!).

-Cait Rohan

Makeovers are a slumber-party must, no matter how old you are. (By now you’ve hopefully perfected your makeup skills so that your pals look more Beyonce than Bride of Chucky). Play makeup artist in a stylish way with e.l.f.’s Studio Makeup Clutch Palette ($10). This mini, easy-to-carry clutch includes 32 eyeshadows, six lip colors, two blushes and so much more…all for only one Hamilton.

I dont do group get togethers anymore because certain so call girlfriends think I am a match making service and try to take over my friends. I seem to have to opposite problem of the “Housewives” on TV. My friends get along too well which also causes problems. I now separate my close friends from the users.

I really love GNI, especially now that I’m on modified bed rest and can’t travel around like I used to. Not only is it cheaper than going out, but it’s far more relaxed and fun to just have a cool get together at home. Spa nights are my personal fav!

For girls nites we like to have a Swap Party, for jewelry, clothing, ANYTHING really that we have thats new or gently used that someone else may like! What happens is each person brings about 5 items (or more or less) they hold up the item and whoever wants it yells for it. If more than one person likes/wants it, then we pick a number out of the hat. Its especially great to do after Xmas bc we often have things we’d like to regift…lotions, nail polish, clothes…even items such as kitchen items, a dustbuster, even a lawn gnome I got one time! =P You never know what your friends need or want! Then of course you can make a light din, apps, cocktails etc. =P
