Make a Hot Holiday Outfit with Stuff You Have in Your Closet
Every year, if I bought new clothes before the holidays, I’d get a lecture from my mother—“Why are buying new stuff?! You don’t even know what you’re getting as gifts!” For years, I ignored her, thinking I desperately needed a few new cute things to wear for Christmas, Hanukkah at my boyfriend’s house, New Year’s, etc.
This year, however, with my bank account looking miiiighty low, I have to admit I finally agree with her—I don’t need that (adorable!) dress from H&M. Especially when there’s plenty of stuff sitting in my closet that can easily spice up any old outfit! So forget out with the old and in with the new—here are five ways that you can make the old look new again!

Belt: Belts can change any outfit from drab to fab! Just grab an old belt out of your closet and wrap it around a dress for an adorable, figure-flattering look (and a good way to draw attention to the still-slim part of your middle!). Another cute way to wear a belt is to pair it with an over-sized sweater—now it’s a sweater-dress.
If you feel like you’re lacking belt options and must make a purchase, try Forever 21. They sell cute yet cheap ones, like this Aztec Leatherette Belt, for only $3.80.

Post a Commentgood article, these ideas are good
Not in my closet! I need to buy a couple of new things.
Have done all of these for years. So far as the “mix and match” pay close attention to the third model. She is subtly matching the items by picking up black and yellow and matching patterns. There is nothing “crazy” on her and it looks best out of the three.
You can also do this with a scarf if you have few clothes. Take the mismatched colors and then wear a large scarf with all the colors on your outfit. Suddenly, everything matches.
The belt is cute..mix and matching is a no no for me.
It’s Christmas – buy something new
great ideas. not sure about the mixing and not matching.
i love #3 i do it all the time
I don’t know if I could pull off the mix matching idea.
I really don’t like using the scarf as a bow but, a belt i would definetly use it for!
Vintage pins can be put on jewelry already owned for example chains, pearls like they said, even lace and ribbon in your craft draw… What a way to make a statement. If people ask who made it you can say you did!
I would love to create my own necklace!
A belt definetly helps change up and outfit. You can wear an old royal blue, red, or festive color sweater under your favorite little black dress. And vuala you have an awesome outfit. You use a plane pair of black shoes and add an embellishment. All without spending a dime.
a glittery sequin top can make a simple pair of jeans or cardigan festive
Jewerly always makes a simple outfit festive!
Don’t know what I’ll be wearing yet
