Easy Ways to Burn Calories During the Holidays (While You’re Doing Other Stuff!)
Psssh. Who has time to exercise when there are family dinners to attend, cookies to eat and eggnog to chug? This time of year is crazy-busy with end-of-the-year work deadlines, a never-ending shopping list, food-filled family gatherings and office parties.
With more time devoted to eating, drinking and being merry, there is little time left to exercise. And let’s be serious—even with a New Year’s discount, a gym membership is still waaay too expensive after you’ve maxed out your credit cards on gifts. While you’re out and about doing last-minute errands, hostessing, partying or hangin’ with the fam, follow these tips to burn a few extra calories and offset holiday weight gain.

BURN CALS WHILE YOU: SHOP

If curling is a sport, then shopping definitely is. With a wallet full of cash and some comfy shoes, you’re ready to take on the holiday crowds and get some serious cardio in. Start by parking in a far-off spot so you’ll have a long distance to walk to and from the mall. Remember that more steps=good-bye calories.
Take a lap around the mall after exiting each store you make a purchase in. Skip the elevator or escalator—the stairs will give your glutes some attention. One mile of walking burns about 90 calories, or four Hersey’s kisses!
BURN MORE CALS: Set a walking goal of 3.1 miles—that’s a 5K—and use a smartphone app with GPS to track your distance, like the CardioTrainer Android app. You’ll definitely check everyone off your list after walking that far!

I burn cals when I clean. not as much when I cook. You don’t move that much when cooking. More just standing.
I hate sitting after eating
Yea, I always walk with gusto when I’m shopping. I’ve done that for years to help burn more cals.
