We believe in going all-out here at Shecky’s, which is why we’re throwing a decadent bash for our 10th birthday (get more details on deals, sweepstakes and more>)! To go along with this motto, we believe in eating dessert first. That’s why we’re recommending any of the following 10 bakeries located in 10 Girls Night Out cities for the best sweet treats around, whether you’re celebrating a birthday of your own or not.

-Lynden Halpern

Los Angeles: Located just a little outside Los Angeles in Beverly Hills, Sprinkles has been credited as one of the first bakeries to really start the cupcake trend. Best part? There are locations nationally with even more on the way!

They didn’t even list my fav. cake and desert place: The Heidelberg bakery in Northern Virginia, in the D.C. metro area. It’s famous around there.

I agree about The Heidelberg’s bakery, but I hate not being able to go their often enough because I live near Montgomery General Hospital, in Montgomery County, MD, so the commute is a bit of a stretch, but when I go there it is ALWAYS WONDERFUL!!! A TLEAST THEY DID NOT MENTION THE DISGUSTING (so I have heard from friends) OVERLY HYPED TLC SHOW “CUPCAKE CHAIN” GERMANTOWN CUPCAKES AND DC CUPCAKES, WHICH FALSELY CLAIM TO BE THE BEST CUPCAKES/DESSERTS IN DC!!! 5/10 friends that went there and got cupcakes, not only for themselves, but groups have gotten so severely sick, that at least TWO OF THEM WERE HOSPITALIZED FOR FOOD POISONING!!! THEY WERE AND STILL ARE ALLERGIC TO NOTHING, SO IT WAS NOT AN ALLERGIC REACTION!!! I AM SUPRISED THEY HAVEN’T BEEN SHUTDOWN YET INSPITE OF ALL OF THE HYPE!!!

I agree with all the others from Boston about Finale. It is definitely NOT Boston’s best!

I live in SF but have never been to Lotta’s Bakery. I will need to give it a try. I think a lot of people would agree that TARTINE BAKERY is one of the best in SF.

I lived in Boston for 3 years. How did I not go to Finale?? I agree with someone else that Mike’s or Modern Pastry in the North End (Boston’s Little Italy) deserve a shout out. I’m proud to see Birdbath on the list – I almost forgot about that place! But they are yummy, and all New Yorkers should check them out! Sprinkles is the obvious choice for Los Angeles. Other notable favs: Yummy Cupcakes in Santa Monica and Burbank (CA), Melissa’s Bakery (mini cupcakes) in SoHo and Union Square in NY, and in Cupcake Royale in Seattle (they have a “Legalize Frostitution” shirt that’s just adorable!) Thanks for the article, Shecky’s!

For me, Butter Lane in NYC is the best! And I agree with BrownSkin for Boston – I would pick Flour or Sweet.

As for Atlanta, Highland Bakery is awesome!

I don’t agree with the Boston choice for the best bakery being Finale…I don’t look at that as being a bakery…I would say Mike’s is a good bakery, Party Favors in Brookline also has good cakes…There are MANY bakery’s around Boston that have GREAT cakes/sweets!!!!
