Dress Rentals for Every Budget & Occasion
Summer is almost here, meaning it’s every girl’s favorite time of the year: dress season! Weddings and bachelorette parties all require the perfect, and often expensive, frock. But with Facebook, Twitter and camera phones, it’s harder than ever to get away with re-wearing the same dress.
This season, borrow an idea from the fellas and don’t buy your formal-wear, rent it! Recessionistas rejoice because we are bringing you some fun and budget-friendly dress-rental options, perfect for indulging your “never wear the same dress twice” fantasy.

New York City (with delivery across the continental U.S.): Rent the Runway

Rent the Runway is one of the first and most well-known dress-rental services. They have a huge database of designer dresses and allow you to shop by designer (Herve Leger, pictured above) or occasion (first date, wedding guest). You can even get help from professional stylists through the website. Their renting fees start around $40, depending on the designer, and the rental time is about a week, max.
Although based in New York City, this company delivers dresses anywhere in the continental United States with return packaging and fare included. The coolest feature they offer is a free “back-up size” to ensure the best fit, for no extra cost!

Post a CommentI’ve never rented a dress, but I think it’s an amazing idea! I have a wedding this weekend and I wish there was service nearby.
I would totally rent a dress for a huge event like a Gala Dinner or an awards ceremony! Some previous special event dresses have been thrift shop finds (and then I re-donate them!), but they’re harder to find the older and larger I get.
I never wear an outfit twice..this is a great idea, men have been renting occasion wear for some time now. This will eliminate me selling what I don’t use on Ebay.
I’ve never rented a dress, but if I was spending a lot of money to rent I might as well own the dress.
I’m not sure if I would rent a dress. I’m kinda a clean freak in terms of hygene and it doesn’t really appeal to me.
great idea…..men do it for weddings…why not women! Lets face it you won’t wear that dress for your second wedding and your daughter won’t wear it either!
I never rented a dress…….my favorite dress designer is Herveledger
