Ellen DeGeneres is a longtime fave, but her fresh takes on everything of-the-moment mean she’s not going anywhere anytime soon (phew!). This comedienne got her start doing small-time stand-up at coffeehouses in the early 1980s…and she appeared in the film The Coneheads.
She skyrocketed to superstar-status with the hilarious hit sitcom Ellen (1994-1998), a show whose success was only furthered when Ellen publicly came out as a lesbian on The Oprah Winfrey Show in 1997. The wildly popular Ellen DeGeneres Show, which premiered in 2003, is arguably the best daytime talk show, featuring everyone and everything from hottie James Marsden to birthday gifts for Ellen’s friend Lady Gaga.

Ellen has always been my favorite. I don’t know if she’s funny as in just standup but she is just a wonderful human being. She is so positive and does not judge anyone at all. I love her show and it always makes me smile. Her show is my medicine. Next to her, I freaking love Wanda Sykes. She is hilarious! I like Chelsea handler too.
I absolutely love ALL of them Ellen for ME is a little on the dull side but I would still see her before I would see Dave Chappelle. So in this order Chelsea, Wanda, the girl who was her boyfriends girlfriend, Choy and then Ellen. DC Improv here in DC is where some of the cast of Chelsea Lately’s cast perform so I love that woman-her and her midget.
I don’t really know a lot of women comedians except for Ellen, who I think is okay. I will have to watch out for the rest of them.
Margret Cho is funny……Ellen was so great on her first show and Chelsea is a hoot!
