Emma Watson to Focus on Career
Emma Watson, the 20-year-old Brit who went from a child star portraying Harry Potter lead Hermione Granger to pixie-cut wearing starlet, has announced on her website today that she will be taking time off as a student at Brown to focus on her career. The final Harry Potter movie is currently in production (due out this summer!) and she notes that balancing all of her responsibilities has gone from difficult to near impossible. Though the role of student will no longer apply to her, she phrased her decision as “time off,” implying she’ll return to school one day.
Of course, I can’t empathize with Emma, though I wonder if she’s making the “right” decision. Is abandoning a degree for a multi-million dollar industry the right move? Or the easier move perhaps? Read what she has to say on [EmmaWatson.com].

GIRL TALK TIME: What do you think of Emma’s decision to take time off from school to focus on her career? Do you think she will return to school? What do you think of child stars foregoing school to pursue their careers?

Post a CommentI think its okay. I hope see doesn’t get caught up in the drugs, alcohol like lindsay lohan.
A child star foregoing school to focus on stardom is good and bad. I think it’s an opportunity cost issue. If Emma focuses on her career, she will make lots of money if she is successful at whatever she does. She is already a star. But I believe everyone should make the smart decision to get a degree in conjunction with being a star. People respect you more.
That girl can buy a degree!
She is young and when she is ready, she can go back. Any college path requires dedication and if she still is feel antsy, go with your gut
good for her
she’s young…school will always be there but great opportunities will not.
Time off is not a bad thing. She’ll return to school with a little more maturity and experience and a break is never a bad thing if it prevents you from burning out.
Some celebs want to continue with their education and get a college degree.. some don’t. But it’s their own decisions and what they want to do.
