Hunting Down Christian Cota at Fashion Week
Fashion may be thought of as a “women’s world,” but we’re big fans of some of the guys in the industry—the magnificent Marc Jacobs, the handsome duo behind Proenza Schouler…and rising star Christian Cota! We caught up with Christian in American Express’ Skybox at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week and found out more about Christian’s first time at the tents.

Christian, who was recently named a Fashion Fund Finalist from Vogue/CFDA, gave us the scoop on his Fall/Winter 2011 collection, which was inspired by everything from hunting to orientalism. But growing up in Mexico City, Christian was actually inspired by his fashionable grandmother—she was a meticulous dresser who never wore the same outfit twice! After considering a career as a lawyer, Christian decided to follow his creative side and graduated Parsons in 2005. Christian’s hard work landed him his eponymous line in 2007, and launching it was “like having a baby,” he told us.
Check out the interview between Christian and his former Upper West Side neighbor—our very own President and Chief Discovery Officer Claudia Chan!
