Make a Girl the First with She’s the First!
When we featured Asha Patel (read: raved), we mentioned that one of the bracelets Patel makes and sells benefits She’s the First. We were intrigued and did a little more research on this organization. While attending school may seem like a necessity, it is actually an unaffordable luxury for many underprivileged young women. She’s the First promotes media awareness of this issue, and provides a directory of schools that young women are eligible to attend via sponsorship worldwide.
Although still in a start-up phase (She’s the First was formed in November of 2009), She’s the First has made enormous strides in connecting girls with the education they deserve. What is particularly impressive about She’s the First is its female founders, who were all under the age of 26 when the organization started. President and founder Tammy Tibbetts isn’t new to the world of charity, with organizations like MacDella Cooper Foundation, Donatemydress.org and MisQuinceMag.com already under her belt.
Whether you can sponsor a girl or want to promote awareness to your school, community, colleagues, etc., there are numerous ways to help this important cause.

Never heard of it….
Nice idea. I’m the first female in my family to get a master’s degree. Every girl deserves a good education.
nice cause!
hi ladies, I’m the president of She’s the First, and on behalf of all of us on the team – and all our international partners and the girls they educate – I want to thank Shecky’s for supporting shesthefirst.org. It’s wonderful to bring Shecky’s fan base into our movement to improve the lives of girls worldwide, empowering them and effectively helping to break the poverty cycle. Anyone can host a fundraiser to support a girl’s sponsorship via the directory on shesthefirst.org — please write us to tell us about your ideas and how you are inspired to creatively fundraise!
What a great cause!
I haven’t heard of this organization, but after reading the article, I think this is a great cause.
