SHE IS MY... Supporting Girlfriend (Vote!)

She is the one you can call up at 4am, hysterical because you got dumped, were laid-off, feel fat…maybe all three. Or she’s the girlfriend who’s been there for you through something major—the death of a loved one, a divorce, a life-threatening disease. She is like the second coming of Oprah (hey, she could probably take O’s spot!)—always there with a box of Kleenex AND the best advice.

SHE is…a friend who has exposed me to the meaning of having a true girlfriend, although we only met two years ago (our ex-boyfriends were best friends). We are constantly bettering ourselves together and have traveled all over the world. From doing things like running half-marathons to seeing tango shows in Buenos Aires, it’s a relationship that helps us grow stronger and independent, together.

SHE is…amazing. Kaylee has been a friend, family and beyond. I have only known her for a few years, but her friendship has been valuable beyond any sense of time. I was in a difficult bike accident recently. Kaylee was by my side in the ambulance, in the hospital and during my recovery at home. I’m not close to my family, but Kaylee made sure I had everything I needed and encouraged me to get back to normal. She mobilized all of our friends for visits and girl chat and made sure everything went well with my doctors. I could not have gotten through the process without her—from making sure I had gossip magazines to read in the hospital to medications at home. She is BEYOND supportive as a girlfriend.

SHE is…the most supportive friend ever. I have so many stories that could support this fact, like her arriving at all the parties that I have hosted before me and helping me out. Or, lending me her ears every time I needed to vent. Or, supporting me through my pregnancy and medical issues. Or, how about when I was closing on my house, and the bank raised the requirement for my down payment, and she gave me the gift of a lifetime which allowed me close on my apartment and create a safety net for my kids?! Who else would that for me? Especially during these difficult financial times!

SHE is…an amazing person. I admire her wit, cooking talents, mommy skills, keeping-hubby-happy skills, and most of all, she always finds time for a good conversation and drinks. My friend is so connected, but always has the energy to make time to hear me vent or to shoot the breeze about life in general. She has an "Oprah/Paula Deen" perspective on life, which keeps me motivated to be the best woman I can be. I love her!

Sandra C.

SHE is…the most supporting best friend (more like a sister) that anyone can hope to one day have. Sandra and I have been friends for years and we have been through a lot of highs and lows. She has been there to wipe my tears from numerous breakups and hardships that I have had over the last few years. She was there for some of the happiest moments in my life, too—my marriage and the birth of my son, new jobs and graduating from school. She is the type of friend who would get in her car and drive miles just to see me and listen to me when I simply just needed a friend to be there. I can say that she is the best support system that I have and she has been there more for me than my own family. She is the true definition of a selfless person. When I look at all my friends, I know that Sandra will be the one that I can come to with anything because she will be there for me to support me no matter what.
