Holiday Hairdos at Your Desk
Just because your calendar is filled and your budget is stretched thin doesn’t mean your holiday primping has to suffer—especially when it comes to your hair.
We spoke with Denise Sparks, updo aficionado and colorist extraordinaire at the fantastic Amadeus Salon and Spa in Pasadena, California, about some easy holiday hairdos that will carry you from a day at work into a night of fun. Not only have the A-list likes of Halle Berry and Brooke Shields received services at Amadeus, but it’s also the salon that styles the Queen of Court at the annual Tournament of Roses Parade at the Rose Bowl, so we knew Denise was the go-to girl for royally gorgeous hairstyles.
Here are four quick hairdos that Denise guarantees will bring out your inner queen this season:
1. Time for an Up-Braid
Great for medium-long hair. Braid your strands, then wrap the braid into a bun and pin for daytime. For evening, take out the bun and ruche the braid a bit by pulling out some strands to create an edgy, textured look. Leave the braid down or pin back after ruching.

Add a bit of bling with these Tasha Crystal Flower Spin Pins ($38 on SHOP.com) around the bun for extra glam.
Do-able at your desk: Yes!

Post a Comment#3 always like the headbands. That’s a classic.
I kinda like #2 but fake flowers aren’t good. Real flowers would be better.
#1 very pretty.
#4 – I like the s-wave but I’ve never used that curling iron. Not sure how easy that one would be to use.
I like the jewel pins!
cute.
Love the hair accessories, but need pictures of the hairdos to see how they look.
Need pictures of the actual hairdos. Hard to copy just from the description.
