Beauty and the Budget
In honor of everything beauty for our 2010 Beauty at Its Best Awards, we obviously invited the money-saving mavens over at DailyWorth to do what they do best—give us advice on saving money on…beauty!
If beauty products routinely blow holes in your budget, learn to shop smart (and cover those bare essentials).
Samples, Please
Shop sites and stores that are generous with samples, like Sephora, BobbiBrown.com, Drugstore.com and MACCosmetics.com. It pays to try products before you buy (and keep a stash for travel).
Steal the Deals
Coupon sites like Dealigg, CouponSuzy and RetailMeNot feature gorgeous deals, steals, coupons and codes that’ll save you BIG money on products and shipping. Blogs like the Budget Babe and Mr. Cheap Stuff deliver chic on the cheap.
Become a Homemaker
Spend less and look stunning by using ingredients you already have at home, like honey, raw sugar, eggs, yogurt and olive oil. Get recipes at BeautyDen.com, or create a DIY home spa. Hint: No hormone-disturbing parabens!
Kick It Old School
There’s a reason why Vaseline, Dove Soap and Ponds Cold Cream are still around. They work—and they’re super cheap! A tube of Vaseline costs $3, lasts forever and works wonders on crow’s feet. Ditto for Ponds, which removes makeup in a flash.
Don’t blush. How do you save big on beauty?

I love samples to try them out
I always shop sephora online for the extra samples and usually can find good deals every once in awhile.
I haven’t really tried the coupon sites, but certainly will check them out. Sephora gives great samples!!! Especially of perfumes!
I don’t wear as much make up as before so my supply lasts much longer now a days.
The BeautyDen Site is pretty cool! Thanks for the article~
I sample products, use coupons, and shop at cheap places!
thanks for the tips. i love samples!
The biggest item I have splurged on was a $50 palette from Fresh. I didn’t have any reservations after buying it. Beauty ain’t cheap.
However, if you must save in times of need what I do is I look over circulars for sales.
Also having one of those value cards like CVS and Duane Reade has, helps with future purchases. You gain “bucks” for every dollar spent.
