Top Trends Gone Thrifty

If you read our post about Kate Moss’ final Topshop foray, you will be well aware of the need for a cape this winter. While it does take a lot of experimenting to get it right (remember to keep the bottom super skinny), capes are the closest thing to going out wearing your duvet, all the while staying undoubtedly chic.
I found this lovely, checked cape at the Artists & Fleas market in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Although the price was a little steeper than your average thrift piece, $145, this cape was reversible and made of the softest spun wool.

I’ve never been thrift shopping except once in NYC and found a great leather jacket.
Love the thrift store finds! Always find goodies…
I try to shop thrifty when I can but it’s definitely hard to find great pieces. You really have to hunt…..at least where I live
I thrift shop weekly. Usually get about 70 clothing items/pieces (pants, shirts, belts, hats, shoes, you name it) for about $100. I can spend 5 hours in one thrift store. My friends marvel at what I can find in what they just passed over. I would love to somehow turn this into a business for myself. I find some really good brands, quality stuff! I love brining it all home and putting together outfits, etc.
I found a Louis Vuitton shoulder bag in a thrift shop! Paid $20 for it, took it to a leathersmith and had him remove the straps (which cost another $15). I wear it as a clutch and still get compliments and inquiries about where I got it! Thrift Score!
I bought a beautifull jacket for $9, a pants for $8 and a sweater for $5 I spent only $22. that is a good bargain.
You can find some amazing finds at thrift stores!
There’s this place my friends keep telling me about. Its called Unique. I really have to get there to get some fab items. it’s so true. When you can find those one of a kind items, you just feel great!
I have actually purchased a very similar plaid cape to the one shown on the site. it was not in such great condition and was a lot cheaper but i ended up chucking it bc it was so huge!!! oh well. i also purchased a vintage rabbit fur vest from the 50′s at a vintage store for $100 and it was one of the best purchases ive ever made!!! <3
