Personalized Weight Loss On Your Wrist!

We know we just announced our Beauty at Its Best Awards which are about looking and feeling great. We also know that you (and us too!) feel our most beautiful when we’re fit, which is why we were psyched when our girlfriends at Girls in Tech wrote in about this revolutionary, smart and FUN way to lose weight.

See more and tell us what you think!

Sometimes only the cold, hard facts can keep you motivated…which is why BodyMedia is the girl gadget of your weight loss dreams! The truth is you burn calories differently than anyone else, which is why cookie-cutter weight loss programs may not be working out…even if one of your friend’s saw success on something.

My girlfriend Christina loves to calorie count, but for me, obsessing over carrots and scoops of peanut butter won’t help me lose weight. I’m more the type of person who needs to stay active. Even on the days I just can’t seem to get myself to the gym…I will go for a simple walk, stay in child’s pose in my yoga class or lift some weights. Others can just cut out the booze and get a full night’s sleep to shed that muffin top. Either way, BodyMedia is a weight management system that collects 9,000 data points a minute to capture your individual metabolic profile. This personalized information helps you pinpoint what actions you need to take to reach your weight loss goals.

BodyMedia does all of this in an extremely lightweight arm band. It also goes beyond counting the steps you take…it counts the rigor in your steps, the deepness of your sleep and the impact of a run to your personal athletic makeup. There is nothing on the market as intuitive as this little arm band: it can detect how much you sweat, whether or not you have a purse on your shoulder when you are walking to your next meeting…or how feisty your last roll in the hay was!

The real value comes in the reporting and analysis that allows you to understand your activity levels, when you are the most active, which nights you sleep longer, and how much impact little things like eating a banana instead of a cookie or taking the stairs instead of the elevator will have. You can log in your meals and plan goals. BodyMedia will tell you how many calories you need to burn to achieve your goals over a week, a month, etc.

The new BodyMedia is bluetooth enabled and will update your stats in real time straight to your smart phone. They come in all sorts of fabulous skins and have been available for pre-order on Amazon since October 31 (at $250 each). With ten years in the making, this product can truly change the way we understand our health habits. As women, we love to analyze everything… so why not give our men a break and analyze our health routines instead?!

I wouldn’t use it not only because of the price but because I don’t need this device I’m already thin. Instead of losing weight I need to gain it

I would use but not for the price . . . also would rather log on from internet instead of cell phone.

I would consider it, but not for that price. I can keep on a diet for about 1-2 months and then I screw up. I’ve found that weight watchers works the best for me and my lifestyle.
