MORE Last-minute Halloween Costumes

1 2 3

If you’re like me, the idea of planning a really kick-butt, chart-topping Halloween costume a year in advance always seems like a great idea the day after Halloween. Until all-of-a-sudden, it’s October 25 one year later and you realize you have done absolutely nothing and are left with little time to even order anything online.

These three quick twists on popular Halloween costumes for 2010 are dedicated to all my fellow procrastinators out there. Don’t stay in this year and miss out on all the fun!

Neytiri from Avatar is a popular Halloween costume pick this year. And yes, you could spend $70 to get this look but really, why would you? All you need is a tight-fitting long sleeved blue shirt and leggings from somewhere like American Apparel or your local dance supply store. If you can find a bodysuit or leotard, that would work great too. Use some glittery blue fabric paint or even permanent blue marker to paint some stripes along your outfit, wear blue heels, make a tail out of some wire hangers, some stuffing, and some fabric if you’ve got sewing skills.

If not, just use cloth-covered cardboard. You’ll need a makeshift loincloth—cut up an old towel or a scarf from a thrift store or your local dollar store. Finally, get some light blue or white face-paint, blue lipstick from your drugstore, paint some light blue marks on each cheek, and you’ll be Sam Worthington-ready!

I usually go all out and dress up, but with the two kids now I have no time for that.

I went to Old Navy today and picked up a red and white stripped pullover. I need to get round glasses and black pants or red stripped leggings – Presto – Waldo! From Where’s Waldo!
