How Do You Beat Bad Hair Days?

So this section is all about sexy finds, and while I’ve obviously admitted that nothing makes me feel foxier than a good, textured bedhead, there’s something to be said for how unsexy and awful a bad hair day makes anyone feel.

I’ve got a few fixes that get me looking and feeling hot again, as well as a few things that would just make my situation worse. PLUS, see how Conair’s Beauty Patrol  is banishing bad hair days for good.

BAD HAIR DAY DOs

  • Baby Powder—great for baby’s bottoms, even better for needs-to-be-washed-but-I-don’t-have-a-spare-second strands. WARNING: Use too much (especially on dark hair) and you’ll end up looking like a Twilight character.
  • Headbands—from J. Crew if I’m going somewhere conservative or work. But if I’m feeling funky or going out, I add a bit of whimsy with True Birds’ ‘bands. Nothing like shoving the mess out of my face…and making it pretty, too.
  • Messy Buns or Ponytails—this is the only time I would like to relive my seventh-grade self’s style. Once again, a snazzy hair accessory (Silly Bandz don’t count!) is essential to make it seem like you did this on purpose. Try Scunci No Damage Elastic Hair Ties ($2.99 on Walgreens.com) available in a wide variety of colors to match any natural (or not!) hue.
  • BAD HAIR DAY DON’Ts

  • Banana Clips—criiiinge, can this trend never, ever come back into existence?
  • Scrunchies—unless you are trying to distract from a mangy mop with an idiotic fashion statement, the answer is no.
  • Hats—don’t hate on me for this one, but unless it’s below zero I am pretty hat-phobic. Maybe I’m just not coffee-shop enough, but I can’t ever imagine hiding behind a fedora…no matter how bad my mane may be.
  • PLUS…Banish Bad Hair Days Forever! The Conair Beauty Patrol was onsite at Girls Night Out in New York City October 6-9!

At the event, the Conair “cops” taped confessions of “worst hair days” and gave each participant a ticket for a summons to the contest website. The top five video confessions are now live on conairbeautypatrol.com, so vote away for your favorite. The most outstanding confession will win a new wardrobe of Conair’s hottest styling tools and a $100 gift card to Bloomingdale’s. The winner will be announced on 11/2/2010.

The Conair Beauty Patrol will be at it again at Girls Night Out Boston on October 27-28 for more of the same, so get those stories ready.

I work at a VERY conservative law firm. When I have yucky, “I overslept and can’t wash my hair this morning” days, hair band it in a pony tail and go about the day.

I discovered the headband this summer and it has been the best bad hair day remedy for me! I don’t know what has taken me so long. I just need to make sure my bangs are in place.

My go to hair style for bad hair days is a high bun. i use a moisturizer to make sure my hair isn’t to dry and a light holding spray to tame fly aways. Nothing beats a bun!

My solution is a hat and I was never a hat person until recently
But I have learned to embrace them when I don’t wanna stress over my hair

When I have a bad hair day my tried and true “save me so I can face the world” is to pull my hair back into a bun. The hairstlye is very easy as well as a classic style.

I like the headbands, but not sure about the baby powder – unless you want to smell like a baby. One don’t I don’t agree with is the hat idea – it’s so easy…

I don’t use baby powder, they have some good dry shampoo sprays on the market that I use. Leaves less residue.

I usually don’t have problems with my hair since it’s so thin and fine. And I haven’t cut it in months since I’m growing it out for Locks of Love.
