Sarah Jessica Parker and Blake Lively Get Matchy-Matchy
Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week is over, which means we’re still feeling the aftershocks of a huge celebrity turnout. To support their favorite designers, stars are typically dressed head-to-toe in the newest styles. One surprising trend we’re spotting is matching dresses and shoes.
Sarah Jessica Parker attended the Halston presentation and accessorized her Halston watermelon dress with matching suede sandals. A little further north at another fashionable event, Blake Lively attended the Toronto Film Festival in a red-sequined Chanel dress with matching rouge Louboutins.
For the past decade or so, matching your shoes or bag to your dress has been considered somewhat of a faux pas—reserved only for those cheesy bridesmaid Dyeable shoes, if that. Typically, colorful dresses like these are paired with black, nude or even metallic shoes, rather than the matching kicks shown here.
What do you think of this trend, is it a classic “do” or a dated “don’t”?

Post a CommentI think both look great. They both can pull off the matchy shoes, because they are stars, but I think the average person going to a party with matchy shoes would probably get a few looks.
I honsetly think that the acticle capture both celebrity quite well and both dress are a mega hit however I really love the way sjp flow came along very classy and upscale for a night out on the town…. good work sjp
love blakes ddresss
I like Blake’s look better.
I think this is a look you can pull of depending on the outfit. Some outfits need statement shoes and others need shoes that don’t compete with it. BL and SJP look fabulous no matter what!
I love SJP so i like all.
I think SJP pulls it off because she matched it with a sandal, but wearing a completely closed shoe like blake lively looks like too much
I think they both look fab. As far as matching the color of the shoes to the outfit, I think it totally depends on what look you’re going for.
idk y its considered bad to wear a matching bag or shoes, I mean unless it too ridiculous i think sometime it can be cute…of course im not SJP…
For celebs, I like Scarlet Johansson and Eva Mendes.
I like Blake’s look better than SJP’s.
I think such a bright dress shouldn’t be paired with such bright shoes.
I like SJP’s better than Blake Lively’s.
I love the look! I say wear something that your most comfortable in, who cares what other people think.
matching your shoes to match your dress to match your bag is s style that comes and goes. I love the southern women that match the shoes to match the dress to match her bag and match their sunday hats. it timeless really.
A bit dated.
i like this idea
Cute!
I like the look!
i think it depends. i like those two looks.
Love the article, but not the matchy shoes
