Looking Forward to Fashion’s Night Out

The planning began weeks ago with my friends—what are we wearing? Where will we stop? In a fragile economy where I, along with many others, curbed my shopping habit (er…addiction) it is refreshing to see an event like Fashion’s Night Out celebrating the creativity of fashion, bringing everyone from the dreaming design school students, the fashion editors of every blog and magazine (moi!), and famous celebs like Mary-Kate Olsen and Naomi Campbell together as one community.

Spanning the nation from Los Angeles, California to Lexington, Kentucky, and the world from Sydney, Australia (on their tonight: September 9) to the Paris, France FNO that happened on Tuesday, September 7, this event is really a global initiative.

And we’re not shopping for the sake of snatching up a prime pair of Paige Denim just ‘cause…we’re supporting the industry and a percentage of the sales from the Fashion’s Night Out collection will be donated to the New York City AIDS Fund in The New York Community Trust. Thanks, Anna Wintour, Vogue and all the other geniuses behind this fabulous and truly fun event.

Some of the events I can’t wait for:

1. Naomi Campbell celebrating her 25th year in the modeling industry with custom t-shirts sold at Dolce and Gabbana. Yes, the tees are $200 each—but they’re for an awesome cause: Naomi’s Fashion for Relief charity. See more>

2. Tom Ford at Bergdorf Goodman. I really want to buy his amazing new lipstick and have him autograph it (yep, he’ll put his John Hancock on products purchased September 10!). Plus, my good girlfriend works for Tom. Supporting fashion, friends and a good cause…all while seeing Tom in the flesh? I’m there. See more> and more>

3. Barneys karaoke as judged by the Olsen twins and Proenza boys. Plus, ping pong, musical chairs and shopping with even more stars like Daphne Guinness? You got it, dude. Maybe I’ll even get to sing the Full House theme…(hehe). See more>

4. As if hottie Ed Westick and designer legend Donna Karan’s appearances weren’t enough, Saks Fifth Avenue is also hosting fashion Pictionary and darts. See more>

PLUS, don’t forget to check back as myself and the other Shecky’s editors cover Fashion’s Night Out and Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week shows.

It’s just too bad that I missed Fashion Night out, I know that it was hot and a lot of celebrities were there as well.

    I know I would’ve had a ball.

Haven’t been to one yet. Also haven’t started thinking about spring 2011 yet either. I wanna enjoy fall & winter first. Too far out for me. I know the designers have to think about it though.
