Last-Minute Labor Day Musts
With the unofficial end of summer upon us and a long weekend to celebrate it, we have a few ways to soak up the last of the sun…er, summer this LD.
-Hang out outside. Whether you’re on a roof, a backyard (a fauxyard), the beach, or out and about at a public venue, soak up the al-fresco while you can. Don’t let the breeze that comes around 9pm deter you, it’s nothing compared to the winter wind. Grab a cardi and brave it!
-Taste the season. Grill up warm-weather favorites (bathing suit season is almost done for, so that second hot dog is totally acceptable) and cool off with ice cream for dessert. Drink a few fruity cocktails and salt-rimmed margaritas. Host a potluck to take the pressure off of you (the hautest hostess) and savor the opportunity of sampling everyone else’s summer must-have munchies.
-Don bright-colored duds and accessories. Yes, we encourage colors when it’s cold, but that electric yellow frock in your closet may not be appropriate come October. And break out those stark white pieces which, no matter what next week’s Mercedes Benz Fashion Week says, will look a little weird after LD.
-Take a serious break. Labor Day isn’t just an excuse to celebrate (or cry about) the end of summer—it’s a holiday about the workers of our country (that’s you!), so take these three days to seriously de-stress. Don’t check your work email, heck, turn your BlackBerry off altogether and invite your friends over to enjoy their company in person. When you’re not at a soirée, get some om-time with extra sleep, painting, a good run or chilling in the sun with a girlie read (with SPF, of course!).
…And look forward to fall. Yes, the temperatures will drop, your beach weekends will be obsolete, your tan will fade. BUT, how could you not look forward to picturesque foliage replacing all that played-out green, football season, wearing fall fads (boots! boots! boots!), Thanksgiving (yum…)….

I LOVE to grill. It’s better than being inside a small kitchen with an oven pre-heating to 350 degrees. Plus, it gets us outside to enjoy the weather before winter hits.
I will go to a BBQ with my family, I’ll miss the pool and the beach, I’m gonna go window shop in Macy’s Specials.
hanging out with friends and family. Have a few b-day parties and then pooling it…. I will def miss the pool and laying out
i’m actually working the front desk at the gym as i type this on labor day. it’s a part-time job and i start teaching tomorrow so it’s ok. my hubby will be grilling when i get home this afternoon. i won’t miss much this summer, i prefer fall/winter anyways!

Gonna visit my niece at college. Brnging her a houseplant to keep her dorm room cheery.
I’m gonna go to the pool to enjoy it while the weather is still warm. I figure I only have a few more weeks of pool time before it gets to cold.
