Schoolgirl Style
Okay, so unless we’re teachers or working on a degree, chances are a lot of us aren’t heading back to class in September. That said, there is a certain freshness, a feeling of new that the first fall month has and always will evoke in all of us. In honor of September’s impending start and today’s Best Successful Girlfriend Crew (everyone started somewhere, and we bet these business-babes recognized their smarts way back in school), and as a nod to all the classroom-chic pieces out there, see our class-iest picks this fall.

Say bye-bye to little girl pleats—plaid pencil skirts make the more mature grade this season. J. Crew’s Gilded Plaid Pencil Skirt ($178) features a knee-length, modest cut that’s totally office appropriate. Gold foil-laminate over plaid mohair bouclé tweed ensures that this piece is far from Granny.

Instantly fall-ify any outfit by adding Old Navy’s Women’s Cable Knit Wrap Vest in Earthly Heather ($34.50). A soft collar and belted wrap waist are an update to the classic and functional chunky knit material. Soooo cozy!

It’s takes a bit of whimsy to don this BDG Varsity Wool Jacket ($88 at Urban Outfitters), but it’s the perfect topper when temps start to get chilly. The burnt schoolhouse red and classic piping means we can almost smell a homecoming tailgate BBQ and bonfire. Varsity letter and foxy athlete not included.

Old-school oxfords are just plain uggin’, but the Fine-Cut Oxfords ($128) from Anthropologie take the usually subdued shoe for an unexpected and mod update. Geometric cutouts and super-thick shoelaces are just the flair this old favorite needed.

Fall isn’t fall without buying at least one pair of perfect-fitting jeans. Save yourself the dressing room humiliation and frustration and pick up a pair of Levi’s Curve ID jeans. With the motto “New Custom Fits for Women. It’s About Shape, Not Size,” and the catchy line “ALL ASSES WERE NOT CREATED EQUAL” (Amen!!!). Take a quiz to find out which pair 100% suits your shape. We’ve featured the Demi Curve Skinny Glazed Jeans ($59.50), but we’re loving all of the styles.
PLUS! Are you from the New York-area? Head to Bryant Park tomorrow, Friday, August 27, for Levi’s Wear What Fits Event. Simply exchange any of your old pairs of jeans (the holey messes, the ones that haven’t fit since senior year of high school) and get a FREE pair of brand-new Levi’s Curve ID. Happy fall, fashionistas!

You can’t go wrong with plaid! I can’t wait for longer sleeves and jeans! Can summer be over in Atlanta yet? Please?
not really my style
I love it but is summer over already! I feel it hasn’t even started.
<3 the cable vest from Old Navy! It can be worked in to existing and new pieces.
I guess I’ve seen lots of plaid coming back this fall. Not sure if I’ll be embrassing that yet.
sept really does give you a sense of new: )
i think vests are fab but that vest is kind of hideous.. i think if you mix the other trends with something more edgy or neutral it can look pretty good
i teach high school math and i love wearing dresses or skirts to work.

Fall clothes are the best – so ready for cooler weather. Atlanta has been brutal this year!
