The Mineral Makeup Movement

Meg from Megsmakeup.com here! I’m not that green, I recycle and things, but I’m pretty much the furthest person from an earthy, crunchy anything. That said, there are a few brands of mineral makeup that I am really loving right now. I guess I tend to equate “green” with minerals because they both evoke images of Mother Earth.

“Going Mineral” on your face is pretty akin to becoming eco-friendly in your office. Mineral makeup doesn’t contain any chemicals. It is free of talc, fragrance, perfumes, alcohol and dyes. It allows skin to “breathe” and sensitive skin sufferers swear by it! Add in the fact that it contains natural SPF, and you can see why even I, the “chemical junkie,” found a reason to hug a tree.

Sheer Cover Mineral Makeup has a fabulous product. I was skeptical at first because I saw it on TV. I know that’s ridiculous, considering almost all of our favorite brands are sold on some TV channel at this point. The quality of the concealer and foundation is top-notch. It lasts all day! Here is a little fact about Sheer Cover that I found out through some investigative work: Youngblood Minerals is a fabulous, pricey and raved about mineral line. The same geniuses that formulated Youngblood formulated Sheer Cover…for of fraction of the price! Shhh! ($29 for the set.)

Cosminology Mineral Makeup has the doctor seal of approval! Dr. Ali Dima is absolutely gorgeous, her dermatology practice’s aesthetic is stunning. She has been delivering to the Belt-way’s elite medical beauty for years. You can bet your last dollar that she won’t scrimp on anything with her Cosminology Mineral Line. Its sophisticated color range is perfect for the professional woman. Her sultry shadows like You Rock My Cosmos ($28) make the grade for day. Her amazing Line Me Up! Line Me Down! ($28) eyeliners make transforming your work eyes to sexy bedroom peepers a cinch. The Ferrari of mineral makeups. We love the line!

Everyday Minerals is a good introduction to get your feet wet with the “mineral movement.” The line has over 400 shades in it and a huge selection of products, some priced even better then the drugstore! I have Everyday Mineral blush in Apple (large $8, small $2.50) and I use it constantly—it’s a huge size and a great color.

I’ve tried Bare Essentials before. Its not my favorite makeup, but they do have a great bronzer.

I love mineral makeup. I have sensitive acne-prone skin and mineral makeup, because it’s made of natural ingredients, do not make break me out.

I think I’m going to try bare escentuals. I’m sure it’s less harmful and doesn’t clog pores.

I heard that mineral make-up is better to use on your skin than some of the other leading make-up products that are out.

Yes it is very affordable. You can start with the basic kit which is only like 60 dollars and last a few months
