Prints Get Professional!

Why not add some punch to an otherwise monochromatic business casual outfit with a fun pattern or print? Rule of thumb is to keep it simple. Layer prints and patterns with the basics in your work wardrobe—classic pairs of dark denim jeans, white shirts, charcoal pencil skirts or a simple black suit.

The Tucker Flowy Dress ($425 at Shopbop.com) features a pretty, dark pattern that’ll transition easily into fall when you add a cardigan.

Let your shoes make a statement in J. Crew’s Patterned Classic Ballet Flats ($118). Dainty, demure, comfy and something you can wear every day of the week? We love.

The Purrrfect Posy Cardigan from Anthropologie is, er, perfect to wear now in an air-conditioned office and everywhere come colder weather. The unique combo of leopard print (huge fall trend!), pretty flowers and a feminine ruffle will spice up any drab work wear.

Keep the cattiness on your bag, not between your coworkers, with Marc by Marc Jacobs Catty Q Printed Hillier ($278). Big enough to carry all your work essentials, but cool enough for a 5pm happy hour.

If you’re after a subdued pattern, pick up Ann Taylor’s Textured Chevron Print Skirt ($88). The black/gray color and chevron texture are classic, but unexpected details like the front pleat keep it fresh.

I like prints, but none of the above do it for me.

Sometimes animal prints can make you look very “old lady” but if done in a simple way, it can be just that extra umph an outfit needs to get the right kind of attention.

I don’t know why that didn’t post under my username. Anyway – I agree that I love the flats but they are definitely too expensive for me.

Hey ladies! I think everyone should own one accessory or article of clothing that is animal print. It gives just the right amount of fierceness to your look. Jessica Simpson has great animal print flats or a bulky animal print ring is nice touch too. MEOW! (I commented by accident on the wrong page. Ooops)

Liked all of these except the printed cardigan looked a bit dowdy.
