We’re almost a week into August and it’s kinda scary, especially stylistically speaking, to think that September is a short 20-something days away. When we think about fall shopping, we’re immediately assaulted by all those thick September issues of fashion mags. Like today’s featured award, Best Dressed Girlfriend, we’re finding you the best trends and breaking them down so they’re simple and wearable, just like a pal would.

In this first edition, we’re highlighting some of autumn’s hottest hues. Fall means falling leaves, and this season, new takes on browns, golds and reds are some of the coolest colors to sport. See our fave fall pieces in each color and tell us which hue you can’t wait to wear.

Camel, a more subdued version of basic brown, is totally in for fall. And what better way to sport this goes-with-everything color than on your everyday coat? This MICHAEL Michael Kors Camel Wool Blend Babydoll Hood Coat ($177 at Bluefly) is adorable with its double-breasted buttons, swingy cut and sleek lines. It’s also all-purpose with a hood, full lining and welt pockets.

In a nod to the season’s usual yellow and golds, a metallic version of the hue is taking over. Our favorite way to wear it is with a blingin’ miniskirt, like this Gold/Metallic Skinny Mini gem by Naven ($145 at Kitson). Pair with black tights and shoes when that autumn chill sets in.

Forego boring basic blazers and don one in fall’s fire engine red instead. Urban Outfitter’s Ringmaster Blazer ($78) will add the perfect pop of color against fall’s darker palette. Keep the rest of your ensemble subtle and you’ll be absolutely show-stopping.
