Crochet Dresses: Yay or Nay?

Looking for a fab and stylish way to beat the heat? Hole-y trendsetting—we kinda like hippie-chic crocheted dresses, as seen on celebs like Kate Bosworth. For every day wear you’ll need to sport a slip underneath (if the frock doesn’t come with one already!), but these are perf as a beach cover-up or a pretty slip-on dress. See our faves and weigh in if this trend is a do or a don’t.

A cream-colored crochet frock like Forever 21’s Crochet Knit Dress ($21) just screams summer. Sweet little details—like multi-colored embroidery on the bodice, a tie waist and scalloped edges—make this piece a must for us.

Don’t want to go all out? This Hazel Printed Crochet Dress ($89) from Dillard’s pairs a knit top with a patterned skirt. The burnt orange and brown hues are so ‘70s and also a subtle reminder that fall is coming.

Take it totally mod with crochet squares and a fun fringed hem. We can so picture rocking this Religion Crochet Fringe Dress ($57.57) from ASOS at an outdoor concert—just imagine what the bottom would do while you’re dancing up a storm.

Let your neckline and back breathe a little while keeping the rest of your dress a subtler solid black. We love how the butterfly sleeves of Charlotte Russe’s Multi-Colored Crochet Dress ($13.99) give way to a colorful and eye-catching back.

Post a CommentI think they’re a definite trend catching on. I’m actually wearing a very classy one to prom this year. Strappy turquoise heals and gold jewelry and I’ll be rockin it
Not on me! A crochet detail here and there is nice though.
I like the dresses with the crochet details..so cute!
definitely a NO
GROSS.
Crochet for a dress? I’ll pass .
Total Nay but thats just not my style
N-O
Crochet dresses can be really cute but probably for women with a smaller bosom. If not the look could be unflattering and sleazy.
It really really depends on what the dress looks like and what’s under it. I agree with some of the other posts. Not everyone can pull it off!
i think maybe a crochet detail not a whole dress. not everyone can pull that off.
big giant NO
The look is ONLY for those who can pull it off. Not every style is for everyone. Whatever happend to a BFF actually telling their friend(s), Girl, you know that really isn’t doing it for you.
If your mirror doesn’t tell you, your BFF ceratinly should.
I like the crochet dress. It may not be for everyone but It’s different and very stylish. I had one years ago and I loved it and wore it often with different accessories. I think everyone who can should have at least one in their closet.
im nay for dresses. i think its cute for sweaters or vest styles
I’m not really feeling the crochet dress unless I’m at the beach wearing it over my 2 piece….
i <3 the Crochet Fringe Dress your models sorry to say just didnt go well with this style I have a crochet poncho that I just love and wear all the time in fact im so gonna post up that pic thx 4 sharing
Nice for young women. Not for me.
nay.. they dont do any justice for any of these ladies’ bodies. its bland
i probably wouldn’t wear a crochet dress but i’d wear a shirt or dress that has a crochet detail (like the last dress from charlotte russe).
