Pets Are a Girl’s Best Friend
The saying might go “dogs are a man’s best friend” but we beg to differ. Here at Shecky’s, our pets are a girl’s best friend. Yes, National Girlfriends Day is all about our (hopefully) non-furry friends, but we just had to pay homage to the best listeners, best de-stressers and all-around funniest pals we have. Take a peek, get ready for some aww-worthy moments and then tell us why your pup, cat, bunny, goldfish, whatever is your best friend.
“My puppy (she is 12 years old, but she’s an eternal puppy) Emma is absolutely one of my best friends. The way I talk about her to people is certainly not normal—it’s definitely obsessive and borderline creepy. It’s cheesy, but she’s always there and loves me unconditionally like any best friend should.”

“I love my dog Gladys so much. When I walk through the door, she gets so excited that she does laps around my apartment and jumps up and down on the couch until she starts panting from exhaustion. Isn’t this how a girl deserves to be greeted?!?”

“My four-pound chihuahua Lucy is the best dog in the whole world. I got her almost four years ago when she was only 12 weeks old, and she’s been my BFF and the LOVE of my life ever since. She’s there for me when I’m happy or sad. She always puts a smile on my face and loves me no matter what. Lucy has also taught me so much responsibility, it’s nice to have someone to be accountable for. She’s the cutest, stinkiest, little brown dog ever. I love Lucy.”

“I found my cat Zoey at Beech Mountain, North Carolina. She was the runt of the litter and her mama had her babies under our mountain cottage deck and left the baby. I found her hiding behind the propane tank and she was so little that she could fit in my shirt pocket. She immediately latched on to me and thought I was her mom. She would sleep on my chest or in my neck nook and to this day comes when I whistle, even from yards away. She follows me everywhere I go when I’m back at home in the ATL and sleeps with me every night. She will sleep in my sink while I do my makeup, and when I sing in the shower she will climb in between the curtains and meow along—obviously, we make a great duet. Because she was the runt, she still looks like a kitten, even at age 14. I miss my baby!”
“I love my dog Connor because no matter how horrible of a day I had, he really doesn’t care. As soon as I open the door, his tail starts wagging, he jumps on me, doesn’t ask any questions and ultimately I forget all about the day.”

“I adopted Teddy (T-Bone/Bones/Tedmund/T-Money) a little over a year ago from a shelter in New Orleans, and he is the happiest/sweetest dog. He loves people and greets everyone with a slobbery kiss. Even though he is fairly big (65 pounds), he is still scared of some smaller animals, which is pretty funny to watch. Every night when I come home from work, he is waiting at the door with some crazy chew-toy, all excited and ready to play.”
“I didn’t adopt my little munchkin Aura…she adopted me. The first time I held her she gave me a “cat kiss” and fell asleep in my arms, so I had no choice. She always greets me at the door, and makes me laugh when she plays and practically does back flips to catch her toys. She’s got all the perks of a dog, without all the responsibility. I heart her!”

“Blue is my family’s thirteen-year-old beagle (old for a purebred!) and he couldn’t be any funnier. Despite his various diseases (I can’t list them, it’s too sad), he still jumps, runs and howls whenever any of our family comes in the door. He’s also the most spoiled member of my family and my parent’s fifth child—it doesn’t stop at the birthday celebrations. He has his own monogrammed seat cover in my dad’s truck and my mom makes him eggs for dinner. He’s still adorable, down for a good belly rub and my baby no matter how old he is.”

Post a CommentMy Pit Bull/Boxer mix, Luci, saved my life. If anyone goes through a horrific breakup, I would strongly suggest adopting a bully breed puppy. I got her when she was about 3 or 4 months old, shortly after the worst breakup of my life. I was severely depressed and totally emotionally unstable. That little girl changed my perspective on everything and filled the void I had, greatly aiding in the healing of my scars. As she grew, I grew. You learn patience and a new depth of responsibility. A lot of girls live for their men without really realizing it – and neglect the love of self that we all so seriously deserve. She also helped me through the process of finding the right guy. Dogs just KNOW good people. She loves her Daddy now. Almost two years and going strong!
…we recently adopted a doggie brother for her and he’s awesome!!! ♥ DON’T BUY! ADOPT! Hundreds of Animals are euthanized every day in South Florida alone!!!

My 5 Year old jack russel Bajigal is one of a kind.
She is my best friend, sometimes i really think she is a human , just the way she acts.
Could never live without her, she is my life. Love her to much.
And she is very different then other jack russels she is all white with spots on her belly , like a cow.
My shih tzu MaiTai is 10 yrs old & she is my babygirl!! She is always at the door to greet me when I come home from work. I have been through alot & she has always been there for me! She listens to me talk & cry & never judges me but is there with a kiss & her head in my lap to say “it’s ok mom you still have me”. She is my world & I can only hope that I am her’s. She adores her grammy & pop’s(my parents) & looks for them all the time. As you can probably tell I spoil her like crazy but I love my little girl
My Pit Bull, Max and Parson’s Russell Terrier, Dallas are definitely my best friends. I adopted my Pit Bull shortly after my poodle passed away from old age, and I never thought anyone could fill that void in my life. Not only has he brought so much joy and laughter to my life, been there for me through everything, and always loved (and still loves) me and everyone he meets unconditionally. He also made me a better person to understand the hurt and danger behind stereotypes, causing me to join the fight against BSL- which I never knew existed prior to adopting him. Dallas was adopted 1 1/2 years ago, and she is so sweet and entertaining- as Jack Russell’s usually are. I do not know what I would do without the both of them in my life.
My 3 year old pit-mix, Bogey, is by far the best friend I have ever had. Bogey is the sweetest, most loyal, loveable dog who’s main goal in life is to make me happy and proud of him. I am beyond proud of my amazing pit. With his help, we have shown people the beauty and love that pit bulls are able to posess and advocate on their behalf daily. Bogey makes me laugh when I am sad, listens to all my problems, and is loyal. I am his and he is mine. I couldn’t be luckier!
I love, love, love my Pomeranian Mercutio. He’s so cute every minute of the day.
I even started an organic dog treat and travel dog bed business because of him and I also dog sit in NYC.

NYC needs more pet friendly places!!
Yes my little Shih Tsu is definately my best friend. His name is Peanut and he always happy and when I come home from work, he runs around in circles and then jumps on me.
My Pomeranian/Poodle AKA Pomepoo Benji is my life, I love him to death and he knows when I’m either sad or sick, he will stay by my side until I’m better. Sometimes I think that his name should’ve been HYPER, he just does not stop jumping, running and playing and his just 7 years old. His cute little face just makes me melt and make me feel like I’m a kid again.
Love my cutie pie Benji
I have a Shih Tzu named Peanut. He is 4 years old we enjoy gong on walks everyday.
Louie the mini poodle will be 10 years old next week! It’s summer and all my co-workers are away, so he gets to come to work with me. His little bed is right next to my desk and we take hourly breaks to throw the tennis ball around.
My two cats are my very best friends. They love me unconditionally; they know when I’m sad or upset and snuggle up to make me feel better; they are absolutely beautiful so they give me aesthetic pleasure; and they don’t care if I gain 10 pounds.

i have a 4 year old rottweiler named bella. she was an early bday gift to me from my husband. she’s absolutely adorable, super friendly and cuddly. totally thinks she is a lap dog. even tho she is “my” pet, she cuddles up to my husband more than me, but i’m the one who walks her and gives her treats. oh well, i still love her to pieces!
Don’t really care for cats sorry!
if you can’t say anything nice, …
My sis has a cat, Miss Daisy who is precious. Very relaxing to pet her and hear her purrr.
