Trends We’d Be Too Embarrassed to Wear
In the world of fashion, trends come and go, and we face a daunting decision each time a new fad comes around: Do we hop on the bandwagon or sit this one out? We at Shecky’s are considerably open-minded, but here are some trends we certainly will NOT fall victim to. What do you think? Are these trends okay or noooo way?
Boot Sandals: We understand that sometimes you have to ditch practicality in the name of fashion, but wearing a sandal (intended for warm weather wear) mixed with a boot (intended for cold weather wear) seems downright silly. This shoe is having an identity crisis and we hope it gets the help it needs!
If you’re brave enough: Maison Martin Margiela MM6 Thong Open-Toe Sandal Boots at Saks Fifth Avenue ($151.99)
Floral Jeans: The ‘80s are back in full swing with these washed-out pantalones that would assuredly make Joey Lawrence say “Whoa!” (…and not in a good way). We love flirty florals, but we prefer them on skirts and tops instead of our stems.
If you’re brave enough: Floral Print Skinny Ankle Jean ($20) from Arden B.
Clogs: With or without heels, we do NOT dig this summer trend. The Netherlands didn’t win the Cup and they certainly don’t win our hearts with this Dutch-inspired fad.
If you’re brave enough: JESSICA SIMPSON JUNIE STUDDED LEATHER CLOGS ($89) at Lord and Taylor
Long Denim Skirts: We’re all for hybrid styles, but the long skirt/denim skirt combo is one combo that is more peanut butter and mayo than peanut butter and jelly. There doesn’t seem to be anything flattering about denim that is that long and shapeless.
If you’re brave enough: Lucky Brand Legend Hippie Skirt ($116)
Muchos Military: A pair of cool khakis or a splash of safari style here and there we’re okay with, but the full-out military look consisting of cargo pants, combat boots and a jacket is too combat-ive of an approach for us. We think too much OD (olive drab) is well…OD (overdone!).

Post a CommentThose trends are so ugly! The boot sandals and denim skirts have to be the worst of all. If I had to pick one I suppose I would go with the floral jeans, but really why where any of them.
hatin those boot sandals…..but i would wear the floral jeans. i saw it in [i think] 17 mag. they looked pretty….awesome.

i think the jeans could look cool with the right top (solid, to tone down the print) and nice shoes.. but i don’t think i could wear it unless my butt got a little smaller

I HAD a long demin skirt when they made their “first’ second time around a few yrs ago. I’m short and had no business wearing it!!
When I finally got rid of it a while back – I was like “why was I going for the Modest but “Hip” Bible Camp look???” LOL!

All of these trends are ugly, especially the floral jeans. I think the military jacket is the best of them all, but I still wouldn’t wear it!

Boot Sandals and long denim skirts, seriously! Hell no its been heat waves almost every day. I do like the military cargo shorts and the clogs.
