10 Things to Love About Being Single in Summer

While we have all the respect in the world for our coupled-up companions, we have to acknowledge that there’s nothing like riding solo in the summer—the most carefree season of them all. Here’s why!

1. Being single means itsy bitsy teeny weeny (yellow polka dot?) bikinis all summer long and flirting with whatever fella you fancy. You’re not tied down!

2. Wear any and every makeup and hairstyle. Feel free to take just as much time as you need de-frizzing and beautifying—there’s no guy around to gasp at how long it took.

3. On a night out with the gals or a weekend away, don’t worry about checking in with your cooped-up counterpart.

4. There are endless possibilities for the single Sally! Whether it means exchanging numbers with a cutie at a bar or taking a spontaneous trip with one of your gal pals, you’re virtually commitment-free and the world is your, er, oyster!

5. Being on your own means you’re regarded as you, not you and (insert name of significant other). Tons of events go on in the summer including concerts, weddings, parties…since you’re on your own, you’re more likely to get invited without that pesky plus one.

6. Escape a little. With no one to chat with 24/7 you might be able to…(gasp!) shut off your phone (provided anyone else important to you knows you’re safe!) and actually enjoy the great weather.

7. Family often takes the brunt of being in a relationship, so while you’re single, pencil in some good old-fashioned fam bonding!

8. We may have height requirements when it comes to our guy, but while you’re on your own, indulge in new shoes! The higher, the strappier, the sexier, the better!

9. While we’re admittedly big fans of spooning, we guarantee an easier and better night’s sleep when you’re on your own soaking up the AC and not fighting over the covers.

10. With less time worrying about someone else, you have more time to concentrate on you. Summer is a great time to do things we always say we don’t have the time to do…whether it means meeting a weight goal, finishing a book or taking up a new hobby, do you this summer!

being single was great, but if you are in a mature and trustworthy relationship you can still do girls nights and not have to check in w/ your man.
