Girlfriend Fun Guide: The Hamptons
Being the workaholic that I am, I savor my summer weekends at my house in the Hamptons. I love the Hamptons because you can essentially get almost everything you want out of a summer getaway, no matter what vacation means to you. Beaches, backyard BBQs, biking and more, if you want to relax. Wine tasting, fine dining, and bed and breakfasts, if food and wine is your fancy. Flying trapeze lessons, stand-up paddling and surfing, if you’re in the mood for adventure. VIP parties at places with “Estate” or “Mansion” in their names, fist-pumping at hot nightclubs like RDV and celeb spotting, if you’re into a schmaltzier summer.
If you’re headed out East this summer or this weekend for Girls Day Out (psst! Snap up tickets for Girls Day Out now!), here are my favorite spots.
STAY AT
Discover: 1770 House: 143 Main Street, East Hampton, NY

Experience: Yes, this property dates back to 1663, but it didn’t become an actual inn till 1770, hence the name. 1770 House still features all its old trappings: a steep wooden staircase, exposed ceiling beams and an antique fireplace, to name a few. Order dinner in from The Palm (located in the hotel), then relax with NY Strip, hash browns, a glass of pinot and chocolate cake!
EVERYTHING YOU NEED
Discover: Sylvester & Co: 103 Main Street, Sag Harbor, New York 11963
Experience: With furniture, lighting, gifts and supplies, it may seem like your typical old-fashioned all-purpose shop—but book signings and heavenly coffee make this one a must-see. Add something tropical to your usual cup of java with Sylvester & Co’s delicious Coconut Coffee. There are actual slivers of coconut in every blend.

Experience: What was once upon a time a little coffeeshop has been transformed into a full-service Mexican restaurant serving breakfast, lunch and dinner using local fish and veggies to fuel the flavorful fare. For just $12.95 sink your teeth into Happy Harold’s Breakfast Burrito, a mouthwatering toasted flour tortilla jam-packed with scrambled eggs, andouille sausage, peppers, onions and cheese. This power breakfast is sure to amp you up for a day of hitting the surf or playing volleyball in the sand.
LUNCH
Discover: The Village Cheese Shop, 11 South Main Street, Southampton, NY
Experience: Known as “The Wine Country’s Cheese Shop,” it features a variety of whatever taste you’re after—Italian, Dutch, Spanish and yes, even Fondue. Even better are their sandwich creations—all distinctively delicious combinations of meats, veggies, breads, and of course, cheeses! The Great Northern sandwich (grilled chicken, aioli, pancetta, ciabatta) is my pick.
DINNER
Discover: Bobby Van’s, 2393 Montauk Highway, Bridgehampton, NY
Experience: If you want to get dressed up and are in the mood for a sophisticated yet solid dinner, head to Bobby Van’s in Bridgehampton. Its light and airy atmosphere is favored by Manhattanites as a welcome escape to the sweltering city. The Lobster Mac & Cheese (often a Special of the Day menu item) is the perfect marriage of vacation comfort food and summertime fare.
BEST BEACH
Discover: Coopers Beach, 268 Meadow Lane, Southampton, NY
Experience: Constantly on top beaches lists, Coopers Beach in Southampton features picturesque white sand and beautiful blue water. As if resting on the Atlantic shoreline weren’t enough, you can also glimpse the area’s historic mansions in the distance. It’s also one of the few beaches in the Hamptons with a good stand to get burgers, ice cream and more.
SPA TREATMENT
Discover: Naturopathica, 74 Montauk Highway, Red Horse Plaza, East Hampton, NY
Experience: Relax and unwind at Naturopathica’s holistic spa. Try the “natural facelift treatment”: a Plant Stem Cell Facial ($150 for 60 minutes), which uses ultrasonic and microcurrent technologies with Naturopathica plant stem cell serum that stimulates new skin growth and slows cellullar aging.

Post a CommentWhy aren’t there any great selections in Montauk? Gosman Dock is a super great place to eat and the scenery is awesome.

Wine getaway and girls day out was fun! The wine tasting was interesting & very informative. The best wine I had was actually a desert wine call Chevelle Blue in a skinny blue bottle. It was sweet and savory taste. Thank’s Shecky’s see you on the next one
I REALLY ENjoyed the event but the Hampton’s OVERall was over rated…NOTHING to do, hotel staff don’t know ANYthing; local eateries, things to do. Our rm was $600 per nite w/a 2 nite minimum stay! I will NOT b returning NEXT yr to stay for the wknd UNless I hav sumthin else to do:-)
Wow that’s awesome. Can’t wait to go.
