Cheryl Burke’s Tips for Surviving the Heat (and the Competition!)

There is nothing more embarrassing than sweat stains ruining a moment when you think you look seriously sexy. So how can you keep those pesky pit-falls at bay in even the most sweltering summer heat? The Body Shop recently debuted their DeoDry deodorant, an organic formula that gives you 24 hours of protection using a blend of volcanic minerals and essential oils.

We caught up with our favorite Dancing With the Stars pro, Cheryl Burke, at the launch of The Body Shop’s new DeoDry deodorant. The event theme was “Roll Your Way Into a Sweat-Free Summer,” and featured a fun roller derby routine. Cheryl weighs in on how she keeps dry and looks fab in the heat of summer and during intense competition.

Shecky’s: What are your favorite Body Shop beauty products to use in the summer?

Cheryl: Obviously DeoDry is something that I love to use. I love their night cream; it really hydrates my skin. And their lip glosses are fantastic.

S: You must work up a sweat with all your dancing! Why is the Body Shop’s DeoDry the best for combating this situation?

C: I sweat very easily. When I feel like there is a sweat stain and I lift up my arms, which you do a lot when you dance, I feel very self-conscious. This is the first time I’ve used a product like Deodry that keeps me dry. I can wear whatever type of shirt I want. I feel very confident when I put on their deodorant, and I dance for 7-8 hours every day.

S: What intrigued you to start ballroom dancing when you were young?

C: My mom and dad did it for fun, so they got me into it. I went to a dance competition when I was a really, young little girl, I saw kids my age dance, and I fell in love with it right away.

S: What was the best costume you wore for the show?

C: Well, we get to design our costumes, so for me, every outfit that I have worn has been my decision. My best one, I would say, was when I danced the routine with Drew Lachey , “Save a Horse, Ride a Cowboy” which was my finale outfit.

S: Who would be your dream celebrity partner to dance with on the upcoming season of Dancing With the Stars?

C: There’s a couple. I would say Ed Westwick is one, and Landon Donovan, the soccer player.

S: When will your new designs for Fit Couture debut? What are they inspired by?

C: The new one has been out for a while now, it’s an online, little, small store. It’s fitness wear; stuff that you can wear doing yoga, Pilates, going to the gym, dancing, it doesn’t matter. You are able to wear Fit Couture wherever you go, even if you are just walking around the park.

I actually just bought this new deodorant. I love the way ot smalls and the way it feels on my skin when I put it on. For summer, I also love The Body Shop’s Vitiamin C Boost serum for my face. It’s like a face oil, but does not make my skin greasy at all. I get really smooth skin and I’ve been using it for about 2 month now and my skin condition has actually improved.
