Old-School Styles We Still Love
The saying “history repeats itself” is applicable to some styles that are so hot right now. Snatch these up new, raid your mom/grandma’s closet (or your own), or scour your vintage or thrift store (weekend fun with your girlfriends!).
Roaring ’20s Gangster

We know you love menswear, but this trend is a little more sophisticated than throwing on your boyfriend’s blazer or shirt. With origins in England and the Emerald Isle, we’re loving brogues (shoes…not those sexy accents) a.k.a. wingtips. ALDO’s Goolia Style ($50) brings us back in a good way.
Fabulous ‘50s

Add a hint of nicety to the normal 1950s femme fatale person with an updated pair of cat’s eye sunglasses. Fred Flare’s Jaclyn Sweetheart Sunglasses ($11) make film noir’s best accessory seem…(dare we say it?) cute.
‘60s/70’s Hippie Chic

Once the style of rebels, flower children and wanderers, hippie has gone haute. We’re wondering if all those Deadheads would’ve given up tie-dye for this adorable Babydoll Flower Tank ($55) by Peony. We’re thinking…yes. DISCOUNT ALERT: Use the word DESIGNER at checkout and get our Shecky’s exclusive 50% off all Peony Apparel.
‘90s Florals

You have every episode of Saved by the Bell, 90210 and Melrose Place taped on VHS, right? Max out this trend by Donna-ing one of your own originals (you kept them, be honest), or buy an updated version. We love the ladylike details, like ruffles and a deep V-neck, on Urban Outfitter’s Lucca Couture Floral Ruffle Dress ($68).

GIRL TALK TIME: What old-fashioned style do you love? What trends do you hope will come back? Do you wear stuff from decades ago? Ever raided your mom or grandmother’s closet? What did you find?

love that baby doll tank!!
Agree with everything- except the menswear. I never could understand that one…
I think most of my closet is filled with old fashioned styles rather than current trendy pieces. I also love to mix clothing from different eras into one outfit, it makes the look unique. Vintage shopping is also the best. I go to thrift shops, and I even have coveted all of my mother’s and grandmother’s old clothing. You just have to take it to a tailor so they can fix it to make it fit me properly and create cuts that are more current.
I love the old school styles!
i second that
