Mmmm. We already know that Memorial Day means tons more man candy, and even better when they’re at the beach. Since this weekend kicks off the official shore-going season, we’ve compiled our likes and dislikes when it comes to babes at the beach.

Like: The obvious best part of beach season is seeing studs sans shirts. Getting a load of their luscious abs and seeing a man flex his muscles in summery sports like surfing and volleyball? Sunstroke’s not the only thing that’s got us swooning.

Dislike: Maybe it’s all those Saturday night shots of J-mo that earned them extra man hair, but whatever it is we’re sooo skeeved-out by sweater-vest chests and bear-worthy backs. A little bit of fuzz is fine (er, normal!) but if you’ve got a lot of hair going on, please invest (hardy-har) in a subtle wax.

Like: Taking the hot bodies aspect above a bit further, er, south, there’s nothin’ like a great pair of board shorts. Just like a bodacious pair of boxers, we love and respect a man who goes a little bit goofy on the prints and patterns (the jury’s still out on okaying some of the really loud picks though). We want to buy these Billabong’s Knock Out Stealth Shorts ($59.50) now for our boyfriends.

Dislike: Speedos, thongs, that thing Borat wore to the beach once…swim suits that leave a little too much down-there on display are just awkward on dudes. Plus, I don’t need to be reminded that your legs and thighs are thinner than mine. Put it away, thanks! This NDS Flag Bikini Swimsuit ($21.95) from ABC Underwear is the wrong way to show your patriotic pride.

Like: SPF doesn’t just save our skin—it’s also the perfect prop for flirting on the shore. Approach a hottie with your Panama Jack Surf ‘N Sport Sunblock SPF 50 ($8) and ask him if he needs some, er, protection. Panama Jack looks sooo badass and anything with “sport” is very guy-friendly.

Dislike: There’s a difference between being a safely bronzed god and looking like an orange/fried spectacle when you’re by the sea. Putting too much T into GTL (we’ve got a Situation with this one) and lying in tanning beds are not okay in our book.
