Fashion Throwbacks

“In high school we were all about Big John Jeans (1), Justin boots, bodysuits (with snaps on the bottom) and flannels with the sleeves cut off. Hot.”
“Gimp bracelets (2) were those heinous things that everyone made and were the coooolest thing to have and make. We all thought they were so sweet and rocked them/made them religiously. Please don’t hold this against me!”
“I was going to say printed stretch pants (3), because I had some crazy ones back in the day, but, um, I realized that I’m wearing leopard-print ones today! I guess I haven’t really grown up that much, stylistically speaking.”
“Butterfly clips (4)! I can’t even begin to imagine (nor do I want to) how many I would have in my hair at once, but I had them in every color, some sparkly, some not, and would clip back as much hair as possible for maximum butterfly effect.”
“Denim overalls (5). They’re really not flattering on anyone, but in our ‘recycled clothing’ phase we thought they were the best.”
“Back in elementary school, my friends and I fell in love with Grease. As a nod to Sandra Dee’s style (the nerdier version of her threads, thankfully), we all bought and wore ‘50s-style saddle shoes (6) very seriously.”
“Midriff tops (7). I’m looking at you, Christina and Britney. Plus, it was a pain to sneak out past my parents in those tummy-revealing tops! Sprinkle (er, dump) some body glitter on and I was all set to meet my sparkly-teeny-bopper pals at the mall.”

Post a CommentMy trends were very close to yours. Those overalls were one of my most favorite things to where, but I could never make it out of the house with one of those tops on!
