When the Going Gets Tough…the Tough Get Steve Ward!

Steve Ward really is a match(maker) made in heaven. You probably know him from VH1′s Tough Love, where he and his mother help a gaggle of girls whip their love lives into shape. And since we can’t resist a good makeover (fashion or romantic), we decided get in on the action…with our Makeover Sweepstakes! One lucky lady will win a trip for two to New York for a personal consultation with Steve and Joann Ward, $500 worth of beauty products, a beauty chat with Shecky’s President, Claudia Chan and one of Shecky’s famoust goodie bags (worth more than $100)! So make sure you enter today, and in the meantime, check out some of Sir Steve’s expert advice on romance…

Shecky’s: Matchmaking comes easy to you, but why do you think it’s so hard for most people to find true love?

Steve Ward: I think people generally live in fear. It’s the people who truly believe in love as “meant to be” that are most likely to find it.

S: Does “Mr. Right” really exist?

SW: My mom and I believe that for any woman to be happy with a man she has to be happy by herself. Once a woman is self-fulfilled and has a life mission in mind, she is prepared to find a mate who has a similar mission, which the two can then embark on together to achieve. Now, to us, that means “Mr. Rights” are everywhere. How and where to find them is, well, the art of matchmaking.

S: What’s your fashion advice for women to help them leave the right first impression?

SW: Wear clothes that flatter you! An outfit says a lot about a woman, but it’s not about the brand names and the details…it’s the general sense of style and what you say about yourself with how you wear what you wear.

S: Have you ever had to give a close friend some Tough Love? And how did it work out?

SW: How do you think I’ve ended up here in the first place? My mom and I give everyone Tough Love, from the producers to the fans, and that includes friends and family! I introduced my best friend Matt to his wife…I pretty much convinced him he wasn’t doing any better than her and they hitched. That was more than a year ago and they’ve never been happier.

S: We couldn’t help but wonder: What’s it like working with your mother?

SW: My mom is the most wonderful woman in the world. Without her irreverent, unorthodox and sometimes outrageous behavior, I would not have gained the sheer audacity and the utter confidence to do what I do on a daily basis.

I’ve watched his show on VH1. Sometimes I can’t help but watch it, because some of the women are train wrecks.
